Pat studied art in South Africa during the troubled apartheid period, and also in London, and has presented one-woman shows in various parts of the world. She paints not only abstract impressionism but also portraits of people and pets, landscapes and murals for offices, churches, stage sets and show stands. Hear her talk about her life as an artist and as the sole proprietor of a gallery/studio that is now her home. Browse some of her artwork, and join her for a sandwich lunch.

Alison Weir is the biggest-selling female historian in the UK, and has sold more than 2.3 million books. She will be appearing at the Monmouth Women’s Festival giving one of her acclaimed talks

What were the lives of Tudor women like? How did sixteenth-century attitudes impose constraints on their lives? Alison will
discuss the role of women in the Tudor age, with particular reference to the wives of Henry VIII and Elizabeth I, painting a vivid picture of a male-dominated world in which females were regarded as aberrations of nature and infants in law. And yet some women did rise above their subjugation, and it is their examples that hold such fascination for us today.
